Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.

Things I use to build software, stay productive, or buy to fool myself into thinking I’m being productive when I’m really just procrastinating. Here’s a big list of all of my favorite stuff.

Workstation

  • Pop!_OS

I was using Windows on my personal machine for the longest time, but my Samsung SSD died, and I didn't want to upgrade to Windows 11. Decided to give Pop OS a try - I’ve been using it ever since.

  • Niri

A scrollable, tiling wayland compositor. Niri is my preferred tool since I require a pleasant tiling experience across my laptop and desktop.

  • SteelSeries Apex Pro Gen 3

My new keyboard for work. I love how light the keys feel without the loud typing noise. I also specifically bought the wired version since I was getting tired of the battery life on my previous logitech keyboard.

  • Logitech MX Master 3S

Probably the quietest mouse I’ve ever used.

Development tools

  • VS Code

It may not be the best, but it has the best extension support for the languages and tools I use.

  • Wezterm

A GPU-accelerated, cross-platform terminal emulator. I first used it since I wanted a terminal that could share key-bindings between my Mac, Windows, and Linux machines. Supporting tmux-like windows and pane management is also a huge bonus.

  • Jujutsu

A new version control system for software projects. I love how conflicts are resolved, along with automatic rebasing. I highly recommend this tool if you have a heavy git stash workflow.

Productivity

  • Excalidraw

A virtual whiteboard for sketching diagrams.

Misc

  • 1Password

    Easy-to-use, secure password manager.

  • Proton

I use a mixture of Proton products for internet privacy (e.g. email, aliases, and VPN).

  • Signal

I use Signal for all of my personal messaging. Good thing everyone else won't know how weird I am.

  • Steam Deck (OLED)

I can play all the indie games I want on the go. The OLED screen is also a big plus.
